During the 20th century, aviculturists began developing different color mutations. This helped increase the popularity of Indian Ringnecks as companion birds.
Today, Indian Ringnecks are popular among bird enthusiasts because of their intelligence, attractive appearance, and talking ability.
Wild Indian Ringnecks are usually green, with turquoise-blue tail feathers. Mature males typically develop distinctive black and rose-colored markings around the neck.
Selective breeding has produced many different color mutations. These include blue, violet, Lutino, green, and albino varieties.
